London´s Archive to release debut Live DVD

Having now sold over half a million records throughout Europe the collective’s last release ‘Controlling Crowds’ secured the number 1 spot in the French download charts, number 7 in French album charts and top twenty results also in Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, Poland and Germany in 2009.
Controlling Crowds was their last album under their contract with Warmer Music and so in 2010 Archive decided to team up with Pledge Music, the international ‘direct to fan platform’ and try something new. The plan was to create a campaign to connect with their fans and to raise the funding required to make the live DVD.
Greece has always been a strong market for Archive, Originally booked to play the renowned Lycabettus Arena on the hill above Athens city, rain on the day drove the show indoors to the Badminton theatre. The filming used a ground breaking approach, the entire show was shot in HD using Canon DSLR cameras, the results are exquisite and the live show has a feature filmic feel. James Tonkin the director says the following:
“It has long been an ambition of mine to shoot a live show for Archive as I believe they are one of the most amazing live bands in the world. Their shows are sonically and visually sculptured to perfection and I felt that we really had to try something new to capture not only the energy but also the emotional scale of a 2h 30min show from the band. The decision to use Canon DSLR cameras came from my desire to produce the most filmic look possible and not just document the event, but help transport the viewer into the cinematic experience of the show.

Filming in the Badminton Theater helped enhance the cinematic nature of the show and a total of 10 cameras where used to cover every detail of the band’s performance. The aim right from the outset was to produce something different from a standard live show and thanks to the strength of the setlist, the filming style and the powerful performance from the band, this has turned out to be a very special and unique show.”
The DVD contains the live show – Lights, Pills, Sane, Finding It So Hard, Razed To The Ground, Collapse/Collide, Bastardised Ink, Fuck U, Kings Of Speed, Lines, Blood In Numbers, You Make Me Feel, Dangervisit, Words On Signs, Londinium, Bullets, Again. Plus 6 individual interviews with Darius Keeler, Danny Griffiths, Pollard Berrier, Maria Q, Dave Pen and Rosko John.
The DVD will be released exclusively by FNAC in France, Belgium and Switzerland on March 21st and via The Organisation/Soulfood Music in Germany, Greece,
Poland and rest of Europe on April 8th.
